Government (Period 2)

Course Description

American Government is a 5 credit course that is designed to teach the American Political system. Including political ideology, the development of the political system and our democratic institutions serve as the core of the focus and discussions in this class. Contemporary events and their relevance are also a key component to this course and will be pursued through current event assignments and informed class discussions. Students should be able to evaluate the role of the national government and its relationship to the concept of liberty in a pluralistic society. Students will be able to identify government involvement in life, including real life functions of government—taxes, institutions, laws, etc.
